I love gardening!  I still feel like a rookie but I just love it.  I read all I can on different plants and gardening techniques, I subscribe to a gardening magazine, I have garden journal of what I plant each year along with maps of my gardens, our local garden center is my "happy place" and LOVE swapping plants with friends and family.  Free plants?!?!  I am in!

This past fall my in laws bought a new house.  Their "old" home had gardens that should be in magazines.  I have learned all that I know about perennials from my mother in law.  She also loves to split and share plants, so my gardens are a very very small version of hers you could say.  This past fall before they moved my mother in law split a ton of plants for me.  I had just gotten a new garden dug out and not it is completely full!  However since cold weather was fast approaching I literally threw things in the ground just to get them planted. I usually try and place plants based on when they bloom, color and height.  I started that but it got to the point that I was literally gardening in the dark by only the light from the window above the garden.  At that time all my planning went out the window.  I am going to try my hardest not to buy any perennials this year until I see what actually made it threw the winter and what survives the rabbits that love to munch on my garden.  I know there will be many plants that I will have to move around.  To me that's all part of the fun.  In the 5 years since we have owned our current house my gardens have never looked the same from year to year.

We do have a spot in our front yard that the last few years I have been putting Wave Petunia's in.  They always do excellent in that location and I love the continuous color all summer.  Now with 2 little ones that is going to be much harder to maintain and I need the garden as stress free as possible.  I want to find a flowering ground cover to put there.  I want something that flowers most of our summer and is part sun/ part shade.  It sounds impossible but I am going to try.

Here are a few that I am considering:

This says if flowers from mid to late summer and is sun to part shade.  Fits all my criteria.

This one might work too....

Pinterest Designed My Bathroom

We finished the renovation in our master bathroom a few weeks ago.  It’s gorgeous and I am so happy with the results.  This entire process, besides the shower accent (thank Melissa!) came from Pinterest and Home Depot.  Literally, this is a Pinterest Bathroom!
When we decided we wanted to redo the space I knew how I wanted the sink area to be.  (our bathroom has a sink area and then a separate space for the shower and toilet.)  The set up works great for us so I knew I didn’t want to change that.  I had pinned a bathroom I loved a couple years ago.  In looking at my “Master bathroom” board on pinterest I had a ton of similar layouts.  It was very obvious what layout I liked.  Thankfully my husband loved it too.
We literally duplicated the picture.  Down to the cabinet handles. As you can see the cabinet color changed therefore so did the granite. We started out with the shower area to mimic this bloggers but in the end we changed it completely.  I wish I could meet the blogger that d…
Ten Productive Activities To Do At Lunch (Besides Eating)

You are busy,

Yes, I get that.  We all are.

But are you using all the time that you have to your advantage?  Probably not.  When you are in the car is your mind drifting or are you being productive and listening to the news, podcast or a motivational CD?  When you are waiting for color to process on your hair and remove the greys, are you sitting there staring at yourself or using that time?  You could be catching up with a friend, working on a craft project (that’s easy to take with you of course), reading a magazine, replying to an email, etc.  You see my point.  There are nuggets of time that are sprinkled throughout the day that you can use to your advantage.  Are you using all this time to make you a more accomplished person?

One of the best examples is lunch.  If you work, you probably get a lunch break.  However long it is, you are still getting time.  Yes, you have to eat, but can you be doing something while you are eati…

Who needs a therapist???!

Not me!  I garden!

Let me introduce you to my gardens.  I don't count the front yard but I do have perennials in the front landscaping.

This is what I call the shed garden:

Shed Garden

We need to freshen up the edge and add new mulch but you get the idea.  Some of the highlights of this garden are the daylillies by the shed door.  They are stunning.  One is red and the other is purple.  Gorgeous.  The hostas are doing fabulous right now and everything looks so lush.  That is why I am posting these pictures.  We weeded and freshened up on Sunday and I was so happy to see all the plants really taking off this morning.  Derek and I planted 2 new hostas over by the hose and I hope they take off.   I split a hosta by the stepping stones that you can't see in this picture.  I hope that wasn't a mistake and it catches back up in size to the others.  At the moment it is barely above the dirt.

I have new red bees balm against the back of the garage.  This is my second attempt at th…
